PONYCAVE is an all weather, all year round field shelter designed on the same computer systems that design the sails for ocean sailing yachts. PONYCAVE is mobile, light weight and practical. Offering shelter against the worst of the bitter wind and driving winter rain, the cave will protect up to 3 ponies. 

The PONYCAVE may be assembled and secured to the ground in 15 minutes. Moving the PONYCAVE to fresh un-poached ground is easily done in 5 to10 minutes. Optional fitted mats keep the interior ground unmarked and fresh.
No more heavily poached ground around your field shelter, you can move the PONYCAVE in a few minutes. No hard fill, expensive build or planning applications necessary you can simply erect a PONYCAVE in a few minutes.

Unlike stables a PONYCAVE allows your pony to enter or leave the shelter when he wants to. This allows your pony to quickly escape weather, insects, or dominant pasture mates, which helps promote greater overall health.
Winter can present a wide variety of weather conditions; from gales and driving rain to hard frosts and snow. All year round pastures can be harsh environments, ripe with excessive sun, wind, rain, snow, or insects. Many ponies are kept outside all year round and need to be able to cope whatever the weather.
Breeds from warmer countries, such as Thoroughbreds and Arabs are not equipped for our winters. They do not use their nutritional energy as efficiently and do not grow such a thick winter coat. By providing a field shelter, a good quality winter rug and a well thought out diet, the balance between energy intake and energy output should be manageable throughout the winter.

In the wild, ponies rely on natural shelter provided by trees and hollows in the ground not found in a modern paddock. Even with an expensive field shelter, many ponies will choose to stand outside and use it as a wind break rather than go inside. This is how and why the PONYCAVE was conceived.

Wind-chill effect is felt by all animals but none so much as donkeys who do not have the same amount of waterproof oil in their coats and for this reason shelter is very important for them. Donkeys really don’t like being wet and cold and they are so sensitive that the unhappiness of their circumstances can actually be enough to make them ill.

It may be only 0° Celsius outside but with 25 knots of wind it will feel like minus 12° Celsius, add sleet and rain for a nasty night in the paddock. 
The PONYCAVE should be backed onto the wind direction and will then reduce heat loss by protecting stock from the main effects of wind-chill and by reducing the wetted area.
